Aberdare National Park

Destination Overview

The park's woodland and moorland habitat's are home to a variety of plant and animal species and numerous flowing waterfalls, a dense bamboo forest, and sub-alpine flora. The majority is located at a height of 3,500 meters. Steep ravines cut through forested hillsides where hidden streams flow and freezing waterfalls cascade over rock cliffs. Alpine-style moorlands are located above the dense forest, yet they are typically shrouded in mist. The park is a fairyland, amazing in its majesty and beauty, and it is abundant with animals, including elephants, rhinos, members of the pig family, antelope and buffalo, as well as spectacular primates, including the magnificent Columbus monkey in black and white coats. The area is home to a wide variety of birds, the most notable of which are the sunbirds. Raptors and game birds are also in great abundance.
