Gede National Park

Destination Overview

This ruined town of Islamic origin dates back to the 1300s and transcends 120 hectares on the Kenyan coast. Partial restoration has made the great mosque, portions of the palace, and other dwellings more accessible. A variety of endemic bird species, as well as rare tiny mammals such as bats, shrews, bush babies, monkeys, duikers, and squirrels, can be found.
